Plugin and skill installs behave differently:

Requires Guile 3.x. The binary is guile3 on FreeBSD, guile-3.0 on Debian and Ubuntu, guile under Homebrew; the plugin probes all three. Bare guile is 2.2.7 on some systems and will not work.

Start the server, evaluate against it, trace, read the transcript back. The server binds 127.0.0.1 on a port derived from the working directory, with a logging proxy one port above it.

These are the genuinely useful part – each cost someone real debugging time.

• ,trace is silent without --debug.
• ,profile prints No samples recorded. on a workload too short to sample.
• A module already loaded does not pick up file edits.
• Connecting to PORT instead of PORT+1 works and records nothing – the proxy, not the raw REPL port, is where the transcript is written.

Transcripts live under ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_DATA}/projects/<slug>/, which is ~/.claude/plugins/data/<id>/. Rotated at 4 MiB, five generations. Removed when the plugin is uninstalled, unless you pass --keep-data. Never written inside your repository, deliberately – a REPL transcript contains whatever was evaluated.
